Looptopia is an all-night artistic celebration modeled on “White Night” events popular in Europe.

This year the festival, located in Chicago’s Loop, featured free music, free shows and extravagant displays involving over 300 artists exhibiting or performing at 100 downtown venues, climaxing with a dawn celebration in Millennium Park.

CAVCOMM provided audio and video support for programs in the Palmer House Hotel:

1. The sound system used by Broadway in Chicago stars from “Jersey Boys,” “Shout” and “Wicked,” one of Looptopia’s headlining events.

2. Multimedia gear for a dance party produced by MF Chicago, a local creative collaborative made up of artists, DJs, VJs, and musicians.

3. A ceiling projection system for the “Chicago Underground Art School and Experiential Fun Fair,” an art exploritorium hosted by the Burning Man Group of Black Rock, Nevada.

Each of the events went off without a hitch, though for a while, the number of people crowding into the hotel lobby to hear songs from “Jersey Boys” made it difficult to move.

“This was just terrific” says CAVCOMM’s Michael Canfield. There was enough going on to keep Chicagoans busy for the whole night. About 100,000 people attended the festival.
