Each year Kraft Foods attends FMI, the Food Marketing Institute Show at McCormick Place in Chicago, and each year CAVCOMM supplies the AV equipment for its booth.

CAVCOMM is an AV integrator, not an exhibit firm, but our engineering staff works with Kraft’s exhibit designer to integrate video servers, computers, flat panel monitors, sound systems and other gear to produce an impressive, informative display.

In the booth pictured, we supplied LCD monitors, larger plasma displays and a sound system using Apogee SSM speakers mounted in the trusswork. We also provided lead technicians to direct and supervise the union labor at McCormick Place.

We approach an exhibit booth design just as we would any engineering project. The challenges are largely the same, although the exhibit floor is generally noisier than a conference center and, of course, we supply the equipment on a rental basis. Screen sizing and sightlines are often crucial, so we always try to get involved early in an exhibit design.
